Rise in wheat prices, what substitutes are possible in Africa?

Faced with the explosion of wheat prices, several African countries are turning to develop local crops to free themselves from wheat flour. The question of the dependence of African countries on Russian wheat is not new. The war in Ukraine has just aggravated this situation on a global scale, and more particularly in Africa. Russia is the world's largest wheat exporter and Ukraine is the fourth. Faced with climate concerns, several African countries had already taken initiatives to end their dependence on wheat flour. Partial substitution of this one by local cereals such as sorghum, cassava flour, plantain flour, etc... can constitute an interesting alternative in terms of cost benefits compared to imported seeds.
